Candy for a Cause
This Halloween, instead of throwing out your children’s unused candy, why not donate it to a good cause?
Operation Gratitude and Halloween Candy Buyback will gladly accept your leftover candy. Operation Gratitude sends candy annually to U.S. troops stationed overseas and to their children and veterans. For more information, visit their website.
You can also consider the Halloween Candy Buyback Program, which benefits Operation Gratitude. Go to their website to search for a participating dentist near you who will accept candy in exchange for things like toothbrushes and coupons.
The Ronald McDonald House helps ill kids and their parents during treatment. Most locations accept donations of candy for their families. Search for a local chapter on their website.
Operation Shoebox sends care packages to troops overseas and accepts individually-wrapped candies all year long. Visit their website for more information.
Other places to keep in mind include local soup kitchens, homeless shelters, food pantries, or retirement/nursing homes. Just give one of these places a call to see if they would like to accept your donation in order to brighten someone’s day.
Happy giving!
