Get Your Kids Loving the Great Outdoors
Spending time in nature has many benefits for kids. Studies have shown that spending time outside can reduce children’s stress levels and have a soothing effect. Exploring the great outdoors can also help children comprehend how the natural world outside of them works. With that in mind, here are a few ideas even busy working moms and dads can find time to fit into their schedules:
Camp out. You can take a trip to a nearby park on the weekends. Or you can even camp out in your own backyard! Pitch a tent, pack a picnic, barbecue and roast some s’mores. The family can have fun by reading stories and enjoying the sounds and sights of nature.
Plant outside. You can plant something simple and watch it grow, like strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes or mint.
Go for a hike. Try to visit a new location near your home base or make a day trip out of your hiking adventure. Taking in new nature trails will provide a different learning experience each time. Children will enjoy looking at the leaves and trees.
