Twos (24 to 36 months)

Grow: Two-year olds continue to build on established routines such as group time, meals, outdoor activities, and nap while improving their ability to handle transitions.  Potty-training is also introduced, and we work together with parents to ensure consistency at school and home to help each child be successful.

Learn: At this age children enjoy being “classroom helpers” while learning new concepts in math, science, and understanding their feelings.  Counting, reciting the alphabet, and recognizing animals and the sounds they make are all favorites for two-year olds.  We work on “using your words” to express needs, wants, and desires, plus establishing empathy for others.

Thrive: Twos often enjoy summertime trips to the ice cream truck, visits from local firefighters and opportunities to see their truck and equipment, and increased celebration of special events and themed activities.  At this age we provide weekly classes with Stretch-n-Grow, a fitness and health program for children.  Certified fitness instructors lead each group in strength training, flexibility, and aerobic exercises while teaching the names of major muscles and exposing children to all kinds of fitness equipment.
