Threes (36 to 48 months)
Grow: The curriculum for three-year olds continues to balance socialization and scholastics. Children begin to develop close peer relationships, understand rules, choice, and consequences, while sharing, taking turns, and getting along with others. They have opportunities to learn independently or with the group, and can identify and handle personal needs such as bathroom breaks or alone time without teacher instruction.
Learn: Increased math and literacy activities help children learn through graphing, counting, sorting, and parts of a story. Three-year olds begin to ask “Who”, “What”, “Where”, and “Why” questions, and speak well enough for others to understand them most of the time. They can follow instructions, learn by example, and recognize potential dangers to avoid.
Thrive: In the three-year old classroom, we begin to introduce STEM/ STEAM with hands-on, engaging activities once per month. Through science, technology, engineering, art, and math our little learners will explore, create, and discover in a fun and interactive way which builds early problem-solving and critical thinking skills. We also introduce weekly soccer lessons at this point through Soccer Shots, allowing children to learn the fun of organized sports while continuing to develop their gross motor skills.
