Tips for Your First Year with Baby
The first year with a new baby can be a definite learning experience. Coping with a baby’s sleep schedule can be tiresome, but there are a few ways to help make everything a little easier.
Take some time for yourself. Whether it’s taking some time to read a book or have a glass of wine at the end of the day, it is important to remember to think about the things that help you relax and try to work them into your days.
Get out of the house. Try taking walks with the baby to keep you energized, or find a local play group that has different activities. You can even find a baby music class for children under one to keep them engaged.
Have some date nights. Don’t forget to take some time for you and your partner. Find a trusted babysitter, family member or friend to snuggle with your little one while you are away. Adult time will help you take a break from the daily duties that come with a new baby. You can even take some time off and have a day date!
Accept (and ask!) for help. As much as one might want to try and do everything and be a super-parent, asking for and accepting help can go a long way to saving your sanity during that first year. Let others give you a break while you run errands or take a nap, and definitely enjoy those meals that others may offer you.
